State Semi-Final Match Report by Darron Cox
Preston Lions versus Altona City: FT 0-2
Both teams came into this semi-final with a good league campaign with just 1 defeat between them.
Altona started the brighter nullifying some early Preston pressure. From a corner Altona broke quickly with the ball being played wide to Arki whose cross found Liam who finished superbly.
Within 10 minutes it was 2-0 up for Altona City with Liam’s shot going through the Goalkeepers hands and how the first half ended.
The second half Altona quickly picked up the pace again creating several chances without success.
Then the heavens opened and the torrential rain certainly impacted the remainder of the game as both teams continued trying to play football which was a real credit to them.
The game was marred with a very dubious red card for Altona however the final whistle blew and that signals our team’s march into the State final this Sunday against Mornington.
