Joey Vella & Ben Smyth recommit to ACSC and our Reserves team for season 2022

Joey Vella is back for season 2022 at ACSC as the Coach of our Reserves!

Joey coached the ACSC Reserves in 2018-2019 and was Assistant Coach to our Senior Team in 2020-2021.  In this time he has been a much loved and great asset to the club, being sort out by younger players as a mentor and being instrumental in the development of these players on their path to senior football or as a part of the senior team.

Joining Joey will be Ben Smyth in the role of Assistant Coach. Ben has been coaching at ACSC for two years leading our U18’s in 2002 and U20’s in 2021. Ben is keen to continue the development of the young players he has coached over the last two years with the view of pushing into the Senior Squad through the 2022 season.

Gustavo Flores named as the Senior Women’s Coach for ACSC in 2022

Altona City Soccer Club has a new Senior Women’s Coach with Gustavo Flores taking the reins for season 2022. 

Gustavo is a true advocate for women in sport and arrives at HC Kim Reserve with an impressive resume having coached senior female teams at Old Xaverians, Melbourne Knights, Melbourne University, Brunswick Zebra’s and Essendon Royals. 

 

“I’m very grateful for the opportunity to coach the Senior Women’s team at Altona City SC. With a foundation already in place, it is my mission to take the team to the next level with a focus on skill-building, discipline, determination and teamwork. It is my intention to create a team that our junior girls can aspire to be a part of. “

“Team culture will be positive and inclusive, with the main coaching goals looking at performance without sacrificing team and personal improvement. I would like to thank the executive committee of Altona City SC for their genuine interest in the development and growth of the women’s program.” Gustavo Flores.

Daniel Genovesi & Anthony Calandrella

Altona City Soccer Club’s executive committee is delighted to announce the appointment of Daniel Genovesi and Anthony Calandrella as Assistant Coaches to our newly appointed Senior Men’s Coach Michael Calandrella.  

Both Daniel and Anthony have a long history of coaching individually and together with Michael.  Together the trio is a formable and cohesive unit that will be driven by and focused on the challenge that lies ahead.

Michael Calandrella signs on as the new ACSC Senior Men’s Coach

26 SEPT 2021  

The executive committee of Altona City Soccer Club is excited to announce the appointment of Michael Calandrella as the club’s Senior Men’s Coach for season 2022. 

Calandrella comes with a wealth of football knowledge and experience having senior coaching experience in the NPL with St Albans Saints, Box Hill United and Pascoe Vale FC. 

With a keen eye for talent, Michael is looking forward to building foundations at Altona City SC for ongoing future success. 

“I’m very excited to be given the opportunity to lead the Senior Men’s team at Altona City in what is a very strong league. Discussion with the committee on the direction they are looking to take has been very positive, and the ambition they showed, made it a very easy decision for me”

Club Announcement

Darron Cox to leave Altona City Soccer Club

25 SEPT 2021  

The executive committee of Altona City Soccer Club advises that after four years Darron Cox will be leaving ACSC.

 

Darron started at ACSC as the U18’s Coach in 2018.  Under Darron’s leadership, the team became a formidable outfit and won the U18 league without losing a game in 2019. An impressive reusult! The team went on to play in the State Final against Mornington SC but fell short at the whistle. In 2020 Darron was promoted to Reserves Coach and through the difficult COVID times of 2020 and 2021 navigated the ACSC Reserves to some memorable wins.

 

The committee, players, and the entire community of Altona City SC would like to thank Darron for all his contribution to the Club and the leadership showed. We wish Darron every success in the future.

 

The Club also extends its best wishes to assistant Reserves Coach Jacob De Battista who is also leaving the club after one year.
