Football 4 FootbaLL             Bush Fire Relief Fundraiser

Toby Wight Head Shave

Supporting East Gippsland United FC

The East Gippsland community was devastated by the bushfires last summer with many businesses, farmers and families impacted. So too was its football community. Altona City Soccer Club set up a fundraiser to support the families of the East Gippsland United FC that were unable to pay for their children’s 2020 soccer fees.
Unfortunately, due to COVID, our bush fire raffle and gold coin collection at the Lightning Cup was unable to take place.
Thankfully due to the determination of Toby, his family, and Football 4 Football Bush Relief fundraising coordinator Kim Powell the third planned part of our fundraising went ahead.
Altona City SC U18  player Toby Wright wanted to help the cause and put his hand up to shave his good crop of curly hair. A GoFundMe page was set up and Toby raised a very impressive $1,339.05 for the families of the East Gippsland FC.
Thank you, to Toby for stepping up and ‘donating’ his hair to assist with the bushfire fundraising efforts and to Kim Powell for all your hard work in leading the Football 4 Football Bush Fire Relief fundraising campaign.
Check out the before, during, and after photos of Toby’s head shave.

Mini Roos Presentation & U9 Joeys Final Match

Great Day For

 New&Mini Roos Presentation

The Mini Roos had their presentation day on Saturday 7 September at Kim Reserve.

It was a great day to enjoy a sausage sizzle, morning tea and jam donuts along with some fun soccer games between parents and coaches. We also had a visit from recently appointed 2020 Senior Men’s Coach Matt Gray and senior men’s Goalkeeper #61 Stefan Sardelic who also played as a junior at Altona City Soccer Club.

Our Club’s Vice President Frank Armeri presented the trophies to all the New Roos (5-7 years) and Mini Roos (8-11 years) players.

The New and Mini Roos could not happen without the commitment and dedication of our Coordinators. Big shout out and thank you to both Katherine Bradford and Chris Caruana.

U9 JOEYS FINAL MATCH VIDEO

Here’s a special video of the U9 Joeys North West final game on 1 September against Kensington Junior SC. It’s all about goals, oranges, great coaching, cheering, teamwork, encouragement and a team huddle. Amazing work Chris Caruana.

Life Members

Altona City Soccer Club was proud to host a Meet and Greet Life Members Event on Saturday 3 August this year. It was lovely seeing many of our life members and their partners/families attend and reminisce about playing at the club in the ‘good ole days’. A specially written letter by Alan Davidson to the Life Members was read out at the event which you can read here

Thank you to the following life members for attending our event: Vince Vella, Hans van der Poel, Ian Hynds, Charlie Gerada, Spiro Tanti, Hilary Devetak, Dale Collins, Tony Cassar, Rob Gramsbergen, William van der Poel and Alister Young. We hope you enjoyed the day.

We have pulled together a short video of the event as well as a gallery of photos. Enjoy!

The club looks forward to hosting another annual Meet and Greet Life Members event in 2020.

Stay tuned.

Injury prevention program for junior & Senior players

Walking Tall Exercise Physiology provides junior and senior players with online injury prevention and development programs specifically designed to individual player’s needs and requirements.  The underlying bebefits not only improve overall performance but reduce the onset and prevalence of injuries.

The program is run by Evan Christodoulou, an ACSC senior player.  2019 is his first year back after playing NPL for ten years.  He has a long association with our club and played as a junior with Alan Davidson as coach in the U13s/U14s.

Today Evan is 28 years old and plays in the midfield, which he has done for 22 years.  His 15-seconds of fame came in 2008 when he featured on Season 1 of Football Superstar on Fox 8 and was awarded the runners up!

To find out more about taking your skills to the next level, please call Evan today on 0423 923 585.
