ACSC Annual Lightning Cup
The Lightning Cup is a huge event for ACSC every year and 2021 was extra special after missing out on holding the tournament in 2020.
It is important to note that all of the hard work and prep that goes into delivering such a large tournament was put in place in 2020 only for COVID to bring it all to a halt a week before. But 2021 was different and we were able to see all the players on the pitch absolutely having a ball.
The 2021 ACSC Cup in numbers;
2 Weekends of fun
3 days of games
12 age groups competed
100 teams participated
150 games played
1150 players involved
Special congratulations go to our U10 Girls and U14 Boys in 2021 as winners in their age groups. Well done to all the players along with the coaches for the U10 Girls Chris and U14 Boys Omar plus the Assistant Coaches, Team Managers and parents.
Also doing us proud were our U8 Boys and U17 Girls who brought home the Runners Up trophy. Thank you to coaches – U8 Boys Daniel and U17 Girls Anthony and the Assistant Coaches, Team Managers and parents.
To all our ACSC teams, as always you gave your all, played fair and represented our club with pride. To put a tournament together is a HUGE job and in a COVID environment, there were even more challenges. All these challenges were tackled and solved by our Lightning Cup Organising Committee. A huge thank you to Karen Kapulica, Anthony Tanti, Darren Borg, Vinnie Campelj, John Sultana, Chris Pittas, Joe Falcone, Frank Ameri and Tania Oddi for a very well-run tournament.
To the volunteers who put on a marshal vest, assisted with ground set up and pack up, put up the marquees and assisted on the BBQ’s – THANK YOU!
A special thank you to Tony and Spiro for manning the gate each morning and coordinating the parking of vehicles. As a community club, our volunteers are vital for the tournament’s success and very much appreciated.

Get the kids in the West – MOVING – 2021
Get the kids in the West – MOVING is a free community program made possible by a Vic Health Grant won by Altona City Soccer Club. The free program is facilitated by Altona City SC and offered to local Hobsons Bay primary school children and community soccer clubs.
The first program was run in April with the assistance of SEDA College and Western United FC. Children aged 8 to 12 years from Yarraville Glory FC, Altona Magic SC, Williams Landing FC and Altona City SC got moving and had a great day learning soccer skills.
